General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic.

Your thumb has been swollen and for that following are etiological possibility ..
-Insect bite
-Trauma
-Overuse of thumb
-Arthritis of thumb joint or inflammation
-Fracture
-Tendinitis or bursitis etc..

According to cause specific treatment plan decided

Investigate with local x ray and ESR investigation

If fracture detected than splint has to be applied

For reducing inflammation and pain ibuprofen 200 mg prescribed for five days ..Apply cold compress

Consult orthopedic surgeon with keeping all this in mind

Take care
